The rapid increase in the trade volume in the world with globalization has made the transportation sector one of the most important actors of the world economy today. In parallel with this, the aviation industry is developing at a dizzying pace in the world, playing a major role in international and intercontinental integration, even leading it. All these developments on a global scale have brought about the rapid growth of the sector in Turkey as well, and air transportation has become one of the increasingly important parts of the economic growth and wealth of the Republic of Turkey.
The development of air transport is enabling the growth of industry, the expansion of international trade and the faster and easier travel of people. In addition, a modern and reliable aviation system will contribute to the realization of Turkey's goals in the process of harmonization with the European Union.
Within the framework of the policies developed by our Ministry in accordance with the legislation established in the field of Civil Aviation, significant increases were reached in both the number of passengers carried and the number of flights as a result of the revival of cross-flights with the Regional Aviation Project initiated in 2003 with the motto "Every Turkish Citizen Will Board a Plane at least Once in His/Her Life".
