RAILWAYS HAVE BECOME A STATE POLICY…

Our Ministry has determined the railways as the sector that needs improvement as a priority in order to catch up with the railway mobilization that started with the first years of the Republic and for the railways to take the place they deserve again. As a result of this preference, which turned into a new railway mobilization, the construction of railways, which decreased from 134 km to 18 km, reached an average of 135 km per year.

With the investments made, our country met the high-speed train, and the high-speed train transportation that started between Ankara and Eskişehir on 13 March 2009 reached Konya on 23 August 2011. In order to equip our country with high-speed train lines, both project and construction works are continuing rapidly. In addition to the activities carried out in line with this goal of reaching 10,000 km of high-speed train lines in 2023, 6.375 km of roads were renewed on our neglected lines.

As the planned works are completed, Turkey's international and regional importance in the railway sector will increase to a large extent and Turkey will become the heart of railway transportation, which will take a much larger share from the approximately 75 billion dollar transportation volume between Europe and Asia.
